Hot Shotz Sports Center is proud to offer batting cages and professional instruction by Shane Kaufman, former pitcher for the San Francisco Giants. We offer cage rental, private coaching, clinics, seminars and conditioning programs.

Shane Kaufman was born in San Diego, California. Shane Has been playing baseball since the age of 5. His father Paul played professional baseball in the Minnesota Twins organization. After high school at Santana High, Shane was recruited by Grossmont Junior College to play two years under Head Coach Randy Abshier. Shane was named the team’s pitcher of the year both seasons. In 2006, he compiled a record of 10-3 with a 2.56 earned run average. A total of 14 of his 16 appearances on the mound were in a starting role. Recorded 97 strikeouts and walked only 25 in 99 innings. 

Shane caught the attention of many schools including San Diego State, Long Beach State, UCLA, USC, and Cal Poly. Shane decided to sign with Tony Gwynn and the Aztec where he was one of the Aztecs’ primary middle relievers during the 2007 season. He was second on the pitching staff with 28 appearances (all in relief).  Shane easily slid into the starting rotation in the 2008 season where earned Second Team All-Conference in the Mountain West.

Shane was selected in the Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft by the San Francisco Giants in June, 2008. He spent 3 years with the Giants and made it to AA. His run to the majors was cut short with a shoulder injury.

Shane enjoys playing guitar, snowboarding, is an avid crossfiter, fishing with his dad and the beach. Shane also Graduated from San Diego State last May.
